    About us

As Community Interest Companies we are different from most other home care providers, who are mainly for profit commercial companies.

Any surplus that our companies generate will be reinvested into the community for the benefit of our service users and the people who provide the service. Our purpose is to provide an affordable service that benefits the community we live in and fair pay for the people who provide the service. Both CE and CEP received grants from the National Lottery to help with ‘set up costs’ in recognition that both serve an important need in our communities

CE and CEP are overseen by a board of 3 directors and a training adviser.

The founding Director, Dorthe Bucknell, and her two co-directors have many years of experience in the public and charity sectors, including adult care and mental health. They know from personal experience what it is like helping to care for family members with physical health problems and debilitating conditions such as dementia.

They have all experienced adult home care services first hand, and want to use their knowledge and experience to improve the home care on offer to our local community.

CE and CEP work in partnership with Age Concern in Deal and Sandwich (and have an office base in both places), as well as with other organisations such as Carers Support, Dover District Volunteer Centre, Kent County Council and local health providers.
