Welcome to Care Extra and Care Extra Plus

Welcome to Care Extra and Care Extra Plus, two ‘sister’ not for profit companies, providing companionship, support and home care in Deal, Dover, Sandwich and surrounding areas.

It can be very difficult to know where to begin when you suddenly find yourself or a family member in need of help and support. How do you decide who is the right person to come into your home and possibly to assist you with personal tasks such as washing and dressing and going to the toilet?

How do you know that you will be able to trust the person and that the worker is experienced, will understand your needs and be discreet? Whether you are looking for companionship or personal care our two coordinators aim to take the worries out of this situation and make it simple for you to find a person who is trustworthy and just right for you. We believe the relationship between client and worker is an essential part of good care so we want to make sure you get the right person for you.

‘ I have worked in the care sector for many years, but never felt I was fulfilling clients’ needs, due to lack of time. Working with Care Extra plus fulfils everyone, there is no rush, visits are planned, plenty of time to get from one client to another, regular clients so you build a relationship with your clients. I enjoy working with Care Extra Plus, you feel part of a team, not just a number.’ Sandy S. care worker.

There are two companies under the Care Extra “umbrella”. Care Extra provides companionship and support and respite to people who care for their friends or relatives. Care Extra Plus helps you to find a care worker who can provide home care including personal care, support with medication, respite and other services.

Both companies were established by a group of people (link to About Us) who believe that care for vulnerable people should not be about making money. Both companies are Community Interest Companies which means they are not for profit or for private gain, and have no shareholders. Their purpose is the provision of a home care service which is affordable and person-centred, and provides fair pay for care and support workers.

The staff are delightful and helpful, I am regularly asked for feedback about the service, which I consider excellent. The company is small and local and is about caring and not about making money which makes it different from most others. I would highly recommend Care Extra.’
    – Stephanie B, Walmer.
